Theater in Pridnestrovie

Pridnestrovie may not be the first holiday spot on your list, but as a tourist destination this unspoilt young country is not bad at all. The state is funding cultural experiences which are unique in S.E. Europe.

Come to Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublica in summer and enjoy the country's national theater. The height of cultural life in Pridnestrovie is the young nation's Drama Theater. Based in Tiraspol, capital of Pridnestrovie, this theater troupe travels abroad several times a year to perform internationally. Pridnestrovie's theater hosts annual plays by Shakespeare and others.

All over the country are houses of culture, theaters and classic European concert halls. All told, we have a more than 200 community centers dotted in every city, town and village in Pridnestrovie.

And there's always some kind of activity going on, usually by locals for locals and on a volunteer / amateur basis.
Folk music and folk dancers in traditional custome are a common feature in Pridnestrovie, so bring your camera.

Coming in October? Don't miss the "Fest". Due to ethnic old-German influences and our heritage as a former part of Poland and Lithuania, there are traditional bier-gartens in Pridnestrovie as well.

Government supports the arts
The cultural life of Pridnestrovie is supported by state funding. Moldova has long given ago given up on Pridnestrovie, so today it is the government of the PMR which supports the children's theater, the libraries, the dancers and folk music bands, the singers, and the travelling troubadors. In 2005 the government paid for the liberal arts training of 5,500 children in the fields of music, art, dance, and choreography.

All towns and cities have hotels and restaurants. In the countryside, some of the villages have small bed and breakfast operations. Private farms, especially in the north, also open their doors to tourists and genereously offer private holiday stays in farm homes. In these farms, foreigners usually pay just $10 USD per night for full room and board, all drinks included.
